Whole Foods Nutrition
Whole foods nutrition is based on eating foods that come directly from the earth including fruits, vegetables, grains, spices and animal proteins, and have as little processing as possible. Our origins as beings are completely based in nature. We are nature, we come from nature and we return to nature. Research shows that our very state of being is dependent on the prebiotics and probiotics that enter and contact our system. The industrialization of agriculture and heavy processing of foods and synthetic chemicals into our diet has significantly reduced our nutrient intake and harmed our toxic burden. Our soil is less nutrient dense from these farming practices and saturated in toxins like pesticide chemicals. In order to reduce these impacts, it is important to shop and eat as much organic whole foods nutrition as possible and support local farming practices when we can afford to.

Action steps:
Changing the way you eat does not happen overnight. Try these small steps to start eating more whole foods.
-
Replace eating out with shopping at local grocery stores for produce, meats, and grains. Anything you cook at home will generally be healthier than what you eat out.
-
Instead of restricting foods, think about increasing vegetables, fruits and proteins.
-
Start looking at processed foods labels aiming for foods with 5 ingredients or less. Only buy packaged or processed foods with ingredients that you recognize.
-
Find your local farmers market and explore stands from farmers in your area. When you buy local you are not only supporting the economy in your town, but you are purchasing foods that are higher in nutrient quality. Foods eaten closest to the time they are picked are highest in nutrient quality.
-
Replace non-organic foods with organic starting with the dirty dozen. Pesticides sprayed on non-organic foods lead to inflammation, hormonal imbalances, mental health disturbances, and much more. Eliminating these can reduce the toxic burden on your system allowing it to breathe and heal.
